Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will battle it out for top spot at the end of matchday 28 in the Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
The visitors go into the weekend two points ahead of Niko Kovac’s side after the Bavarians were held 1-1 at Freiburg last weekend. Bayern Munich also struggled to see off 2. Bundesliga side FC Heidenheim in the cup midweek; scoring a late goal to win 5-4.
Prior to that, Bayern Munich had certainly found their form after a terrible start to the season under new head coach, Kovac. Borussia Dortmund took advantage at the time but Thomas Tuchel’s side have certainly slowed down in recent weeks.
Lucien Favre’s side have relied on stoppage time goals to beat both Hertha Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg in their last two league outings. That doesn’t bode well when you’re coming up against a force as strong as Bayern Munich.
Both teams have been knocked out of European competition so will not be in action midweek either, meaning this is their biggest fixture left of the season. Borussia Dortmund can head into the game with the mentality to avoid defeat but Bayern Munich know they need to win if they want to put the title race in their own hands.
The bookmakers are certainly favouring the defending champions with odds much shorter than we were hoping for. And we’re on their side – we fully expect a home win in this one and wouldn’t be surprised if it was a comfortable one too.
Best bet: Bayern Munich to win is 1.53 with Betfair
